Dean, Prof. Fortunato L. Cristobal and Dean of Community Affairs, Dr. Afdal Kunting of Zamboanga Medical School Foundation visited PAHS from August 3 – 8, 2008. PAHS Community Health Science Department and Basic Medical Science Department interacted with them regarding community based and community orientated medical education. Prof. Cristobal and Dr. Kunting also gave a comprehensive demonstration of the Problem Based Learning practiced in their school. They also visited proposed PAHS community rotation sites. Prof. Cristobal gave an excellent Grand Round presentation at Patan Hospital showing the success of Community Based Medical Education that has 50% teaching-learning in the community and retention of more than 90% of their graduates to serve in the rural and underprivileged community of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region, Region IX, Mindanao, Philippines.
